A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a "Rhodilandah" and have lived here my whole life. I have a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Rhode Island. I work at and part manage a Chinese food restaurant, owned by my high school-sweetheart's family. (He's still my sweetheart now!) I am currently a student at the Rhode Island School of Design, working hard to get my Certificate in Children's Book Illustration. I am a member of the SCBWI, I love to travel (and eat!), I can speak little Cantonese, and I'm doing what I can to help our planet and world a better, safer and healther place for future generations to come.

I work in pencil, ink, watercolor, acrylics, oils, pastel, and other mixed media when it strikes my mood.

In my Fine Art pieces, my favorite subjects to paint are colorful skies, animals, and close-up views of flowers. Although most of my work is based on realism, I often enjoy working in abstract and creative styles. Color is a major aspect of my pieces; I like to use lots of it and make it stand out whenever possible.

As for my Picture Book illustrations, I am still looking for a consistent technique and style that suits me best. My biggest problem is that I like to do it all! Story and theme help to determine whether I will use delicate line work in pen and ink, bold textures and colors, or a more three-dimensional look. There isn't much I am not willing to do- I will try anything once!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my site!
